The Gateway is a new residential landmark for Halifax’s west end: two seven-storey buildings joined beneath the street by a shared two-level parkade, rising above one of the city’s most connected corridors — anticipated to welcome its first residents in Spring 2029.

A portal, not a door.

The centrepiece of The Gateway is its monumental brick portal — a four-storey frame wrapping glass, light and greenery. It borrows the language of Halifax’s brick warehouses and Victorian streetwalls, then opens it to the sky.

Above a three-storey brick streetwall, the buildings step back into pale tile and charcoal metal volumes — a skyline profile that softens toward the residential streets behind.

When will The Gateway be complete?

The Gateway is currently in planning and design development. Completion and first move-ins are anticipated for Spring 2029. As with any new development, timing is subject to approvals and construction — registrants are the first to hear as milestones are reached.

Where exactly is The Gateway?

6421–6471 Bayers Road in Halifax’s west end — the entrance to the city. It sits beside the new school on Bayers Road, two minutes from Halifax Shopping Centre, three minutes from Highways 102 and 111, and directly on the Bayers Road transit corridor.

How close are the hospitals?

About ten minutes. The QEII Health Sciences Centre, the Halifax Infirmary, the IWK Health Centre and the Dalhousie health campus are all a short drive or transit ride away — which is why The Gateway is designed with nurses, doctors and healthcare workers in mind.

Is it a good fit for teachers?

We think it’s the best fit in the city. A new school is being built directly next door on Bayers Road, so teachers and school staff can walk to work. Dalhousie, Saint Mary’s and Mount Saint Vincent are also nearby for those in higher education.

What kinds of homes will there be?
